Schubert piano sonata in B flat posthumous
on: January 17, 2014, 03:03:59 PM
I'm learning the lovely B flat Schubert sonata (on my own, I don't still have a teacher - haven't for many years but try to keep up my playing) and trying to come up with an appropriate speed.  Molto moderato suggests a graceful forward sweeping to me and I've been going for about 76 met mark, but finding it a bit 'notey' and plodding in the semiquaver accompanied sections. I don't want to rush this beautiful thing, but am wondering about trying a bit faster.  Can anyone help me with suggestion? I would be so grateful for thoughts and guidance.

Many articles/reviews have been written on this Sonata. NO ONE plays it at the same tempo. It is a very personal reflective work. Choose the tempo that speaks for you....there is no wrong tempo. Enjoy your journey with this magnifient piece.
