Bach - Prelude and Fugue #1 (WTC I) LIVE
on: January 27, 2014, 01:34:39 AM
Hi everyone!! A month ago more or less, I posted my performance of the "Prelude and fugue #2" from J.S.Bach (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4CmM7VgKs4) and today I leave you the another one I played in the same concert, the number 1 in C Major.

This "Prelude and fugue" contrasts clearly with the second one, this one has a character much more placid and harmonious in comparation with the storm that unchains the second one in C Minor. It was a clear influence for later pieces such as "Ave maria" from Gounod or "Étude op. 10 #1" from Frédéric Chopin. It's one of the pieces which is travelling through the space (and beyond the solar system) on the space probe "Voyager 1" sent to get as far as possible never ever :P

After all these pieces of information and curiosities, I post my performance. I hope you like it!!  ;D

Bravo! I particularly enjoyed the Prelude!

The Fugue was nice also, but I couldn't hear all of the voices as cleanly or distinctly as I would have liked to.

Personally, I think it's better to play Bach's music with the score than by memory. It helps the clarity when you can see the entire composition in front of you!

Thank you very much for your advice!!

Yes, seeing Bach's scores while you're performing can help you to better understand the texture of polyphonic music, I totally agree. The point is that I performed after those two Bach's preludes and fugues three pieces more and I took the music stand off the piano, so I couldn't put any score on it.

Thanks!!  :)
