chopin etude op25 no1 - is it almost ready?
on: February 02, 2014, 02:59:23 AM
I shouldn't have taken an hour long angry nap today
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This piano bench was making creeks while I was recording I almost stopped in the middle, to take it outside for a fire!!!
wrong notes in melody line like an idiot. It's not my day. I need a brake!
Is this almost ready? Any suggestions before I record it in the next week or so for youtube?
Thanks

Bravo! Very nice rendition indeed. Good discipline with the phrasing.
Many people get stuck in the muck with this one, I like how you really kept the line singing through!
I think it could get even better if you practice it a bit without any pedal at all, so you're really secure in your pedaling and the jumps, and you aren't ever using the pedal to hide sub-optimal clarity!
Good work, though! Most impressive.

Thanks awesome_o.
I practice it about 10% of the time no pedal but all next week no pedal then i'll record it again.
You don't think the inner texture is a bit too notey?
I think this could be a microphone placement issue. If I put them a bit further away I will get better texture from the inner notes. I will experiment with this..
Thanks again
Ps - I watched a little of superbad and I feel much better. Laughter is the best medicine. I am mclovin!

Personally, I think the clarity in the inner line is nice. This is my favorite of Chopin's etudes, and you played it really well. I agree with what awesom_o said about your bringing out of the main melodic line; it's really nicely done. Only thing I would comment is that beginning from 1:53 you could use rubato when playing the repeated arpeggios. Overall, good job!

Bravo! This is really very good.
Yes it is almost ready.
I few more weeks to get it really secure and then it will be fully ready. Be sure that all the inner notes are played at both hands.
Also you can consider playing the last arpeggios in closer tempo to the previous section.
Currently you slow down a bit. I also prefer the last trill to be played faster and lighter, but that is a personal preference.
This was still very impressive though.
