Glinka Nocture in F minor
on: February 04, 2014, 09:38:26 PM
Hi all,

I am sharing the video of my practice yesterday. I have been thrown out of my comfort zone - playing a grand after having played a digital ONLY for the age is quite a bit of difference. I got a few notes wrong in this video, it was one of the first ones of me practicing this piece (others didn't record as i have run out of memory on the camera!)
Since played that yesterday, I have now figured out how to play the beginning properly and when to release the pedal. generally, pedal is my biggest problem, as I am so used to just put my foot down on the digital piano.
Please let me know what you think of this, I have another 4-5 practices on this grand before the performance. Thank you ever so much!

I liked it! I don't know the piece but thought you played it well. Play it like that and you will do fine. Good luck!

Thank you for your comment. There are a few lapses when the top melody line was over shaded by wrong pedaling, but think I am nearly on top of that. :) Tonya

Bravo, Tonya!

Considering you don't get to play on a grand piano at home, you did very well with the pedal here!

You also did well with the voicing. The tone was consistently beautiful and expressive.

Well done.

Overall, try to keep it moving forward at all times! The music already has a nostalgic quality to it. I think it would be even more effective and expressive if we do not linger as much with the feeling.

We want it to be noble and sad, not sad and self-pitying.

:) Very good job though. Thank you for posting.
