Hand kinda hurts
on: February 05, 2014, 09:11:34 PM
Hi guys,

I've a minor problem - the area at the bottom of my thumb is kinda hurting when I do certain actions, such as carrying heavy things with it, clenching my fist, or tightly gripping a pen.

It doesn't hurt a lot, it's more like soreness after exercising. This has been going on for about two weeks now.

I really hope I don't have something like tendinitis or something that will hinder my practise. I practice about 3 hours a day, take extra care that I don't do something to my hand and take frequent breaks. I also go to great lengths to try and relax.

I think this has happened before, but it went away in about a week.

Maybe you have a sprained thumb then?

That's the context of the image you linked.

That's what I was thinking as well, but it doesn't seem likely. I don't engage in a lot of contact sports, and certainly not rugby.

You're pulling your thumb in too much, and playing with your thumb under your hand it seems, because what should be sore is the bit between your index finger and your thumb. It's too awkward to play with your thumb under your hand; try rotating the hand instead.
I am trying to become Franz Liszt. Trying. And failing.
