I need pieces with melodies or passages in thirds.
on: February 07, 2014, 11:01:09 PM
Hallo guys,

I am looking for any melody or passage in thirds (not double thirds) to use it as an exercise, because just playing scales in thirds is boring and i already practiced many scales in thirds.

I hope you guys can help me out finding something to practice.

Chopin Op 25, no 6

Scriabin Op 8, no 10

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I think he means two hands playing passages one third apart.
Right OP?

Try contemporary Latin piano. Lots of arpeggios with the right hand and left hand a third apart.

Thank you. I will look for those pieces. Do you know a composer or a particular piece?

Near the end of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody 11, there are two brief passages where the hands are playing chromatic runs that are thirds apart. Although I don't know if I'd recommend learning the whole thing just for those two runs...
Currently working on: Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody 2 (all advice welcome!), Chopin's Revolutionary Etude, Chopin's Fantaisie Impromptu

Haydn Sonata in C 50
Saint-Saëns étude op 111 no6
There's another Saint-Saëns étude which specifically exercises thirds but can't remember opus number.
