Charles Walter Upright Action?
on: February 11, 2014, 09:08:58 PM
Looking to purchase my first Piano. Have pretty much decided on a Charles Walter Upright. The new production models come with Renner action. I have found an older (2006) Charles Walter with Langer action for under $2500. Not sure what new Walter uprights go for but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the either action or may be able to offer an opinion. Thanks. Caleb.

For pricing of new Walter, Larry Fine's free PianoBuyer book on Pianobuyer.com really helps. Our local dealer showed the MSRP, then "sale" down to SMP and would talk deal below SMP. Your neighborhood dealer may vary, of course.
$2600 for a 2006 Walter sounds like a fantastic deal; almost too good. Please engage an experienced technician to inspect that piano to ensure it is well cared for and in solid shape. Walter is very well-built, like a tank, but one can never be too careful.
