competition repertoire
on: February 13, 2014, 09:33:03 AM
Yesterday I was at the piano competition. I totally screwed up the first piece (Schubert) because I was nervous.

I'm so mad at myself!

It was the first round and I advanced to the second one.

The first round: 10-15 min
Schubert Klavierstucke D946 no.1 (6:00)
Czerny Etude Op.740 no.12 (2:20)
Rachmaninoff prelude Op.23 no.5 (4:20)

I found out that the only way how to play well the Schubert is to play something different before it (but none of the etude no.12 or g minor prelude).
I want to learn something else that would fit to the 15 mins and is not hard to learn.
I've got 6 week till the next round.

I was thinking about some easy Bach. I really love the polonaise from French suite no.6. or some easier Chopin prelude. But I don't know if it is a good idea to play something that easy.
But on the other side if I was playing like a first piece something easy I wouldn't be that nervous and get ready for the next pieces.
Bach-Prelude and Fugue 2
Mozart-Sonata 545
Schubert-Klavierstucke D946 - 1, 2
Chopin-Etude 10/9, 25/12
Liszt-Un Sospiro
Rachmaninoff-Prelude 23/5, 3/2
