Bach 3 part invention No 15
on: February 21, 2014, 09:41:41 AM
Hi there,

Can you please give me your feedback. Sorry about the white ceiling view, my phone camera fell...apart from that, it is just phone camera.
I had taken a few shots but all of them with some one silly mistake where my hands carry me on and my mind doesn't remember where I am. I am at the stage of memorizing where I am not confident enough to play without the sheet, but it confuses me when I cannot find where I am as my hands know most of the piece.
I know there is a slight tempo change in one of the passages and my LH started "limping" in one of the most difficult passages towards the end. The plan is to practice it all slowly again. Have one week to fix it all (I KNOW!!!) Any comments are welcome! :)

Well, since we are only looking at the ceiling and not your hands it's hard to tell, but you sound quite tense. It's easy to say "relax" and hard to do it. If you slowed down a bit and also gave a little more space between phrases I think it would sound better. You've got the notes - I'm sure the mistakes were just due to tension. One thing to try is to stop suddenly in the middle of the piece and pay attention to how your hands and arms feel. Are you relaxed or are the wrists up and tight and the shoulders hunched? Then keep your hands in the position you stopped in and try to relax everything. Do this often when you play and gradually the relaxed state will take over. Good luck.

Thank you so much! Yes I agree I tense up, especially when I am trying to record. I will practice more relaxed and a bit slower :) t
