Questions about hungarian rhapsody
on: February 21, 2014, 10:32:15 PM
Alright. So lemme start this thread by introducing myself. My name is kelin, and ive been playing for as long as i can remember. I started out playing by ear, then took lessons from one of the best teachers i know, ruth (if your on this forum then hi:) since then I've learned mainly classic piano pieces like fantasie impromptu (STILL Having difficulty with the polyrhythms on this one , that kid Enzo on YouTube plays it better xD) revolutionary etude, moonlight son.3rd mov. Etc. anyways hungarian rhapsody is a Piece I've always wanted to be able to play. Worked on it for years with no results. Its only until recently (like the past few months), that I've made substantial progress. Ive pretty much learned the whole song, But, i still have a question about this song, in particular this bit right here:
Because of the closeness of the hands in this part, is so hard to figure out how to play. I was wondering if anyone knows any tips for this part. Also there is this youtube video, heres the link:
I was wondering if there was sheet music in existence for this particular rendition of Hungarian rhapsody. Anyways thanks (and if you read all this thanks) for your help, have a good day
P.s is there a way to change my username?

First of all, welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy the many personalities here.
Well, I'm not sure if you're really ready for Liszt HR 2 if you're having trouble with Fantaisie-Impromptu, but I won't try to stop you.
I play that part with my right hand under my left. Keep your left hand closer to the piano lid rather than at the edge of the keys, and position it slightly higher than usual. That way, your right hand will have more room to hit the notes.
So you want the performer's cadenza? You would be better off asking the performer himself.
I'm not aware of a method to change your username, but I don't think so.
Hope this helps!
