The Piano Lounge
on: November 21, 2004, 03:27:38 AM
(nice jazz music playing softly in the background)

*sits on a stool at the bar and orders a cocktail*

everyone, please take a seat at the bar or on one of the comfy lounges and just relax, have a cocktail (or if you're under 18 get a soft drink or something, yes we are going by australian drinking laws) and leave the woes of life out the door.

so how's it going for everyone? enjoying yourselves here? feel free to chat about whatever. do you like the piano playing? it's a steinway, go have a play if you like!

I guess we don't have to worry about saying useless things in here.  :)

I thought Australia's drinking age limit was 20?  I know the US is strictest with 21, and Canada is 18/19 depending on the province.

No, it's part of Australian culture to start drinking by 14, but that's illegal until you're 18, when you can get as drunk as you like and it's legal.  ::)

Us Canadians are under some movement to "enjoy responsibly".

Our driving schools show your Austrialian made for tv public service anouncements from TAC or something like that, with all the horrors of drunk driving.

I'll have a strawberry marguerita.  Think I'll sit down and croon a blues tune or two... "Don't Advertise Your Man" and "Weary" by Eubie Blake.  If someone joins the crowd who plays ragtime that would be "Grande".

*rob47 comes in and orders a loooooooooong island ice tea, drinks it down, and orders another one.  (several hours pass)

.....

he then goes to the computer at the back of the bar and logs on to the pianoforum, and starts ranting and raving because he's so drunk!  :D

he then gets into an argument with Bob and Spatula.  Most of what is heard is incoherent, but you can sort of make it out:
euayh dont you goshttelling may howto beehave in abar..uahd....!!.!!.1* *stay awayfrommy wifffe youbasstardSS!! ARGHGHG auah a wiseguy, eh???

he then punches Spatula in the handle and Bob yells "sic em, boys!"

a whole herd of angry snails charge in _@/  and coat Rob47 in a layer of slime.  Incapacitated, Rob47 is dragged out by the bouncer nilsjohan...

haha this is fun!  :D  what a great place!

donjuan, as he sits in the corner, drumming his fingers and checking out the fine looking women in the lounge.

Ah, my snails.... always at the ready.  I really prefer the typed version to the real thing.

*sits in booth.  Orders "something with alcohol."  Drinks it quickly, orders another one to drink slowly, and stares into space.  Waits for alcohol to take effect. *

Long day.  Fortunately, this internet alcohol doesn't have much effect. (hic)

* plays cool riff on double bass (half size, since I'm so small), then remembers I'm no good at playing pizzicato, and fingers get tangled in strings, so give up, sits at the bar, orders a glass of wine and satisfy myself with admiring the playing of the jazz pianist and bassist instead *

*Bernhard shows up with a pipe in his mouth, wearing a fuzzy sweater vest and tie (I don't know why, but for some reason I imagine Bernhard being someone like Wilson Wilson from Home Improvement).  He pulls up a chair at the bar and orders a Martini- no salt, extra olive.  *

hmm what happens next, I wonder??

Err...

No pipe, and no fuzzy sweater, I'm afraid (Perhaps some silk pijamas a la Hugh Hefner 8)). Martini? Nah. More likely to be sake or wine. ;) Picture Brad Pitt ("Meet Joe Black") and you will not be far off. ;)

And another bottle of Chateau Petrus, if you please?

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

*Eyes a plate of Spatula's Digestive Biscuits.  (I think it was Spatula? -- See Fall thread) *

Another informative and interesting night at the piano forum.

Most humorous moment:  Hearing a stern teacher voice in my mind when I made my way down to Dark Wind's subtle suggestion...  https://pianoforum.net/smf/index.php/topic,1574.0.html
