Chopin - Valse L'Adieu (Op. posth. 69/1)
on: February 25, 2014, 09:11:09 PM
Hi, guys!

Firstly, sorry about my bad English (I speak Portuguese).

So, I wish I had posted a piece in which I was more confident and the piece in question was more polished, but my teacher asked me to give a try at Chopin's L'Adieu Waltz (I'm not having classes anymore). So, I decided to post it here and see some opinions.

I'm sorry about the bad recording quality. The piano is a little tuneless, and there are some background noises, but, in general, it's quite listenable (at least, I hope so). I started studying the score last week, so the "performance" isn't that great. But I'd like some advices and opinions about what I've already done.

[Recorded on February 25th, with an Essenfelder upright acoustic piano]

Sorry for anything and thanks in advance!

Any feedback?
Sorry about "resurrecting" the post, but it's been left out (don't know if I expressed it well, but anyway...).
Any opinion/advice?

Practice it looking at the music but without any pedal.

That piano is terribly out of tune.

Yes, the piano is really out of tune. It hasn't been tuned for over 1 year. I really have to solve this.
On the question of practice looking at the music with no pedal, I tried to do it in most of my practice and I'll surely follow your advice. Do you mean my articulation is bad or something?
Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Your pedaling struck me as being a bit sloppy.

I tried to follow the pedal markings on my score (pedal being pressed each bar, except for one segment in the third section). But I noticed that, in that way, the notes became too shuffled and I tried to ease the pedaling. But I must have done it wrong. ;D
I'll follow your advice. So, I'm supposed to practice my finger legato, ain't?
Thanks for the trouble!

Yes work on the quality of your legato and the beauty of your tone.
