Play Count Fraud
on: March 10, 2014, 06:20:29 AM
https://www.5chicago.com/features/april2013/how-to-become-a-fake-soundcloud-superstar/
I'm curious if anyone here has ever tried using play count fraud as a legitimate way to help promote their music?
It seems like quite an effective method of becoming a commercially successful musician.
Do you think it is morally "wrong" to buy fake popularity in order to generate real popularity? Or do you think it is just clever?

People have been doing it for years. Pop bands used to go out and buy their own records so that they would "chart" and then get airplay.
