I will say that I just expressed generally my idea, but I was never quite concentrated when I do recording...
Do you guys have some suggestion about how to do better when you record what you play? :)

Your playing sounds too "notey" for my ears.
Listen to how streamlined Sokolov makes it sound!

Your pedaling is also sloppy in some places. Please clean it up a bit.

You play the small, accompanying notes too loudly, with not enough of a focused tone on the melody notes themselves. The result is that we hear too much sound and not enough music.

Recording is more difficult than live performance, artistically speaking (in my opinion).
My only 'suggestion' for how to do better when recording is to be exceedingly good. No shortcut, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the advices. Before doing records,I was quite confidant about this piece.
Now I found so much sloppy stuff in the recording...
I also find that the version that u sent to me is slower ,and a little too much rubato in Ravel(the Swiss clock worker) in my opinion, what do you think for the rhythms ?

In terms of recording, perhaps you are right,I need to be exceedingly good to be satisfied ,and I will perhaps record my second round after I play his miroir ...

Perhaps. I'm not a huge fan of Sokolov stylistically, but his performances are generally quite good.

Just help us get the time of day using the hour and minute hand, with less 'tick tick tick tick' of the insignificant second hand ;)

Are you doing the other movements of the Sonatine? Are you preparing for a competition? What are your rounds?

I have put all the three movements in the post, because it is sonatina not a grand sonata...
I played this just to begin my adventure of Ravel's world. I am in a French national conservatory ,so I get the chance to study Ravel with Ravel's pupil's pupil, haha.
And I prepare to play Miroir and Gaspard afterward. I have played this sonatina in a audition a month ago, it went well. I now pick up to not forget it.

If you like ,please download it ,you will find it is all the three movements together.
Although,I find it a little uncomfortable when playing the 2nd ,with this piano

Ravel Une barque sur l'océan
Franck Prelude chorale et Fugue

I found the 2nd and 3rd movements to be a bit clunky.

You have pretty good control of your sound picture and you play rhythmically... but it's too clunky.

Think of it this way: the CORE of your sound needs to have more CORE and less SOUND.

Absolutely! Look to sculpt a tone which is more "pure" and your playing will grow in intensity! It's a difficult concept to work the mind around, but you'll definitely get there.

I find practicing without pedal to be the most helpful way to work on this.
