I read it in wiki that it is one of the most technically demanding piece in solo piano repertoire...
But I remember that I played it with not too much effort when I was in high school ...
I am confusing, does it mean there are something very complicated musically hidden in this piece or wiki just talks nonsense?
What do you think?
Beethoven 4th concerto
Beethoven op.111
Ravel Une barque sur l'océan
Franck Prelude chorale et Fugue
Scriabin sonata 4

It definitely is NOT one of the hardest in solo piano repertoire, but it is quite difficult. Liszt wrote many other pieces that are much harder. Better candidates for the title would be Gaspard de la Nuit, Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka, Alkan's Etudes op 39, etc. Difficulty may be subjective, but no knowledgeable musician thinks that HR 2 is the hardest (especially in terms of technique).

So, in short, wiki is not very trustworthy.

Looks like whoever wrote that Wiki article has a pretty big ego. ::)

Well, I am hesitating to play Gaspard or Petrouchka for my graduation exam. And I definitely will not play H2 at the exam...

I don't think I recommended learning them, I just gave examples of harder pieces. You don't have to do incredibly hard pieces for the exam. Music isn't really about difficulty.

Saying you played it in high school without knowing it was difficult implies that you may not have been playing it well.
I played Un Sospiro in high school, but when I listen to the old recording I don't like it at all.

Yeah,you are perhaps right.
But in your opinion, what is the difficulty in this piece?
As I remember, I did not play really well the section with the appoggiature ,I used the fingering of 23 23,which was never comfortable...
