Beethoven sonata for violin and piano no.9 vs no.10
on: March 27, 2014, 11:12:32 PM
It is for a competition . Me and my partner have practiced together Beethoven's 4th ,and 5th sonata. And Szymanowsky's violin sonata too.
Now we are about to choose a serious classic piece. We hesitate between 9 and 10.
What do you suggest?
Beethoven 4th concerto
Beethoven op.111
Ravel Une barque sur l'océan
Franck Prelude chorale et Fugue
Scriabin sonata 4

I really love both. I would start with 10 before trying 9, though. 10 is very difficult musically, but much more manageable overall than 9.

I suggest you play 9 together as well, but play it more for fun.

Prepare 10 seriously for the competition! If you can really nail it, musically, it will be very impressive for the judges in terms of your ensemble musicianship.

Thanks ,man.
The competition is in April of next year. We have plenty of time. So we will study the 10th sonata well. Musically I even prefer the 10th than all the others, actually.
Beethoven 4th concerto
Beethoven op.111
Ravel Une barque sur l'océan
Franck Prelude chorale et Fugue
Scriabin sonata 4
