Keyboard limits
on: April 23, 2014, 09:45:21 PM
Hi. I was wondering if someone could assist me with how to handle pieces where the the sheet musics asks me to play notes my keyboard doesn't have. I have a 61 key keyboard and in a piece i'm currently has the following notes playing on the bass clef:

C2 C3 C2 C3/ G1 G2 G1 G2

The problem is my keyboard doesn't have a 0 or 1 octave so i can't do the G1 notes. If i just miss them out it ruins the rhythm, but if i try to replace them with something else (i mainly tried just doing G1 four times in a row) it still doesn't sound right.

I know technically the best answer is 'get a longer keyboard' but i was wondering if there's a standard workaround for stuff like this. I'm still just starting out so i don't want to just buy another keyboard when i've only had the first for a few months (it's not even that advanced a piece).

Can anyone help?

(in case it helps, the piece in this example is Animaniacs

Transpose it up an octave.
