Music Flash Card Apps
on: April 24, 2014, 12:52:52 AM
So I've been searching around for music flash card apps, and I thought the majority were lousy for beginners. The reason was mainly because young beginners have trouble memorizing so many notes at once, and the apps don't let you choose which cards you want to use...so basically I created my own set. One for younger beginners and one for older beginners. They don't have too many so as the student is learning the concepts behind note reading, they can memorize notes a few at a time, and start to play faster!
I'd love to see other apps that students find helpful as they begin. You can find the two apps I've developed Here:
Music Flash Card App
If you practice with flash cards while you are taking
piano lessons
you will get better - faster!

I'll pass on clicking.
I'd go with paper flashcards. Traditional. Paper can take a lot of abuse. Not that apps are that difficult, the whole tablet/smartphone thing adds an extra layer. Paper flashcards... It's all right there. Toss them around. Sort them out. Lose even, not a big deal. Don't have to worry about them charging up. They're light-weight, so there's little arm/hand strain.

No offense, but this app is far better than the one you've developed.

I created my own paper flashcards when I started teaching, and some good ones as well, but this app I have used for 3 years now and it's a total winner. Beats everything else plus it's got other exercises as well.

If you print your own out, then you get to learn some notation software while you're at it. But that notation software struggle is kept separate from the actual note drilling.
