Share Your Knowledge of Music and Composers!
on: November 26, 2004, 02:09:23 AM
Piano Forum members!  We're all knowledgable in many aspects of music.

If you're not familiar with Wikipedia, it's an online encyclopedia that is actively edited by it's user base.  Anyone can edited even if they aren't registered.  Many of the music and composer related articles could use some detailed elaboration.  I know people here have a lot of knowledge on various subjects and so I thought I'd ask.   For example, the Chopin article is pretty well done while more could be written about Ravel.  More obscure composers specific pieces sparingly have information.  Many of our favorite works don't have a single mention!

If you don't want to worry about formatting the article and linking, that's fine. You can write paragraphs and allow other users to copyedit and place your additions!  The motto of Wikipedia is "be bold!" in your edits, so anything you think is wrong or could be betterjust change.  Feel free to link here if there's one you like or want to draw attention to.  It could be a useful musical resource to us if we work together. :)

I love Wikipedia, so useful. First place to turn to when you need help on a project. Also, where would I put the little interesting fact that both Ravel and Debussy have written a mazurka?

I think that would go on the Mazurka entry, which is currently only a stub.

I created an article for Liszt's Années de Pélerinage although it could use some expansion on the history of the piece

Are you refering to the Mazurka from La Parade by Ravel?
You need more than a piano, two hands and a brain to play music.  You also need hot sauce.
