More "Beautiful" Repertoire?
on: May 08, 2014, 04:22:07 AM
So, as I am likely soon going to be playing for more events (hotel lobbies, dinner parties and such), I'm looking for some better suited repertoire. Since I want to keep the mood happy, (although I would probably through a few minor things in there somewhere) I'm looking for pieces like Clair de Lune and Debussy's First Arabesque, as well as Chopin's op 10/3 and 9/2

So, here's what I have on my list:
Raindrop Prelude
Clair de Lune
First Arabesque
Chopin op 10/3
Chopin op 9/2
Chopin op 17/4

Any suggestions? I was suggested to go for some Schumann.

Saint-Saens - Piano transcription of Le cygne, from Les carnaval des animaux

By the way, the middle section of Chopin's 10/3 might be a little..violent. I'm just curious, are you planning on just playing the A section?

In Sospiro

Chopin nocturne op.27 no.2

Chopin etude op.25 no.1

Chopin op.15 no.2

Alkan op.22  (don't be scared by the composer... It's not that hard)

Chopin op.55 no.2

Any of the liszt leibestraums

Any if liszt consolations

Schubert impromptu op.90 no.3

Alkan prelude no.12

Alkan esquisses no.34 Eb Minor

Alkan petite conte

Alkan op.38 no.1

Alkan op.65 no.1 no.3 no.6

Alkan op.33 4th movement (not easy at all...)

So many choices but these are pretty!

Just here to lurk and cringe at my old posts now.

This book is great for reception-style music -
https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/quiet-classics-sheet-music/4775112

Have a look at the "Song List" on the page, but ignore the "Performed by" parts.

It's spiral-bound, which is real helpful. Also the pieces included are in their original form, not simplified or transposed.
