Chopin Fantasy in F minor Op. 49
on: May 13, 2014, 04:56:21 AM
Hi Piano Street Users!

I took a break from this piece for a month and now I'm dusting it off and ready to start "perfecting" it. I've made my own list of things I'd like to work on after reviewing this taping, but I'm interested to see what other ideas you may have. Everyone has been very helpful on here and I'm excited to receive your constructive criticism. :) Should be fun! Thank you for your time!

Harrison

mate, I enjoyed your playing especially the touch and the control of dynamic and pharsing. dnt you hate that phone ringing at 1.23. This is why I do my recordings with phone disconnected. ;D

By the way, that piano seems to have a very fine touch, what make?

Overall impression 9/10.

Thank you for your nice comments! :) It's a 5'3" Essex baby grand. A Steinway brand. I've personally really enjoyed it.

why are the short notes in the beginning so incredibly short?

Great Job Harrison! I really enjoyed this beautiful work in total. I only had to things that I felt probably could be changed (just an opinion). The short notes in the beginning sound really short just as the previous comment mentioned. The other things was the last two chords, I think you should take a deep breath in the first chord before hitting that last chord because it felt for me slightly faster. Otherwise everything sounded really wonderful, and I'm sure you'll perfect it in no time (we know perfection is impossible in music but you know what I mean ;) ). Good luck!

2 things:
-I think you're playing it a bit too rushed at the moment, especially the beginning. Try to think more in melody lines and take a mental breath before you start at the next one. Take your time!
-Bigger difference in dynamics. Technically it is good how you're playing it, but now you'll have to apply on dynamics it so you can build more tension.

good luck!

I liked it very much! My only complaint, as people have already mentioned, are the really short notes in the beginning.

Overall, 9/10
