Hello Everybody!

I composed two little songs and i think they are beautiful. Please if you have some free time, then watch my movies, this is my first two own songs.

May-fly:

Light in the forest:

I'm a hungarian software engineer, I have been playing piano  for 5 months only, but I love it. I already learned River flows in you, Ballade pour Adeline, Hallelujah, but since I meet my instrument more and more , there are some melody, which I must write down and play it!  :)

Regardless of my proceeding comments, please do continue to compose.  You'll only improve.

Regarding May-fly:
There are unexpected harmonies that could have sounded nice, however, the way it was played made those harmonies trivial, demanding the expected harmony instead.  This piece would be better received if your performance was good, i.e. subito piano on the unexpected harmonies would provide a sense of mystery.  Melodically, it needed to be performed like typical melodies, not so clunky and percussive.  It sounded like a MIDI playback, not a human one.

Regarding Light in the Forest:
Play faster.  More dynamic contrast. The same performance issues as May-fly.  E.g., resolutions should be softer, not so percussive.

Oh, big thank you for this analysis, I'm happy to hear this from a prof  ;) Thank's again.

I have been playing piano for 5 months only. I think, it will be much better in the future (I hope at least  :)), and I will keep your words in mind!

Hey Stylerpiano,

Great work on composing after such a short time with the instrument. Did you have any musical training before?
The style reminds me a bit of Yiruma :) and Faulty gave you some good advice on performance.

Sometimes I create a nice melody but I have no clue what to do with it after, not that I ever took the time to really think about it... maybe I should :p

Anyway, congratulations and enjoy playing/composing!

Hello Carl!

Thank you for your post!

No, I haven't got any musical training before.  I started to meet the instrument from zero 5 months ago. I went to a conservatoire 4 weeks ago, so I had 4 piano lesson, but that's all.

I would like to learn this beautiful instrument well, and i will keep going to the conservatoire until i finish it.

"The style reminds me a bit of Yiruma" - Oh, this is a big compliment for me :) Yiruma is one of my favorite pianists. I learned the "River flows in you" 1 month ago, and I love the song! (In the conservatorie, I learn this song again in little parts, because my finger order was not the best)

I love my May-fly song :D. I revised it with my teacher. He said, that both of the songs are good. And the style is similar to George Winston's style. Winston composed lots of songs in this category.

When I will be better skilled pianist, I will upgrade this songs, but I think it's not necessary.
