ABRSM exams
on: June 07, 2014, 11:28:34 PM
(sorry about the last one, I hit enter by accident and it posted)

About a year ago, I began playing piano under a teacher again, and we are catching me up on everything I have missed out on when I was "teaching myself." She had me participate in Guild Auditions and in Musician's Festival, both of which I perform in front of judges. However, I only have my senior year of high school left before I begin college and begin setting up for my major. I intend on double majoring- one in piano performance and one in a different subject, so that I can still practice for a while before getting into larger performances.

My question is, since I do plan on staying serious with piano, should I start with level one ABRSM exams or level five, so that I can gain the requirements and soon after, take the level 6? I still have a good amount of work to do to get my skills up to performance level, but it's definitely within reach. The only thing is, I am not old enough to drive, I do not have a job-- so unless my parents would like to make a kind donation of x amount of money, I'm almost on a budget of $0. What should I do? Any and all responses are much appreciated.

Ask your teacher.   We are not your teacher.  We do not know your skills

What is your standard of playing? Majoring in piano is no joke. I'm a piano major myself (and a violin minor). Please list out your repertoire so that I have an idea of your standard of playing.

I'm a piano major myself (and a violin minor).

I'm more atonal, irrespective of instrumentation.
