Pathetique 2nd movement
on: June 08, 2014, 01:19:13 PM
Hey,
I've been playing piano for 1 year now and am currently learning the second movement of Pathetique. Obviously since I'm an adult beginner this recording is far, far from perfect (also I recorded with a cellphone laying next to the piano so it might sound... weird) but I want some constructive criticism so that I can improve.
Here's a link:

(please lower the sound volume!!)
Thanks in advance

The alternating note accompaniment should be softer. Also, the off beat of that accompaniment is slightly accented. This issue is probably technical. It sounds like only your fingers are used to play the accompaniment.
Pedaling is excessive. There are parts that are marked staccato which should not be pedaled, e.g. 1. the transitions into the restatement of the melody, 2. the LH in the forte part.
There are other issues of articulation and unsteady tempo. The Schirmer edition of this sonata is edited very well with a great deal of performance markings which, if followed, sound very well.
