New repertoire?
on: June 09, 2014, 12:14:57 AM
So I'm cleaning up Rach 3/2 and the third movement of Moonlight Sonata, still working on Chopin Concerto in F minor, but mainly tone related things; I can play it to a decent standard now. So, what are some good pieces to learn over the summer? I'm hugely considering the Heroic Polonaise by Chopin, and I also would love to do an etude, but am stuck on which one to do. I've read through 10/3 and have also gone through 10/1 once, so I have some options. Anything Bach at this level that's good?
Thanks for all replies. Also, before anyone suggests the op 9/2 and op 9/1, I've done them already.

Hm...have you tried Chopin: Fantasie-Impromptu Op. 66 in c sharp minor?

It's a beautiful piece... :)

Bach - check out the English suites.

Chopin - look at Polonaises other than Op 44, 53, 61.  There are quite a few that are underplayed.

One could surmise by your username that you like Chopin?  ;D   Have a look at early Scriabin, you might be interested in it.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Do a 20th Century or (dare I say it) jazz. It's good to have all kinds of music

Take your own advice.  ;)

You might even venture into the third millennium.

Polonaise op.26 no 1 and 2 are both nice pieces. Check it out.

Funny, I'm actually doing a jazz piece and a piece from a video game. I'll look at those polonaises, and the English Suites, thanks guys! :D

Try Copland's The Cat and The Mouse Scherzo Homorisque.
