Most difficult right hand ONLY piece?
on: June 11, 2014, 11:53:54 AM
I know of many  difficult works which  feature  the left hand  such as the  Ravel concerto for  left hand  and  Prokofiev's  piano concerto no  4. I think they were  commissioned  by a   left armed  pianist after he  lost his  right arm in some  accident. many  left handed works  came  to   be   associated with that  guy, which the name  escapes me.

What are  some of  the  most difficult  piano works  which only  have the  right arm? concerti, solo works.
Funny? How? How am I funny?

I don't think in terms of more or most "difficult'. Either you like it, or you don't, and if you do, then you do whatever is necessary to master it. You may want to try Alkan's "Introduction, Variations et Finale", Op 76, No. 2. There are several clips available on YouTube.

No amount of how-to information is going to work if you have the wrong mindset, the wrong guiding philosophies. Avoid losers like the plague, and gather with and learn from winners only.

That work is not only a killer but also a rare instance (at least to my mind) of Alkan writing piano music that is not merely hard to play well but also somewhat ungrateful and impractical, which cannot resonably be said of either of the other two études in the Op. 76 set.

The only concerto that comes to mind is the one by Henri Cliquet-Pleyel. I do not remember it being difficult, only uneventful.

Being a pupil of Eugene Cools, did not seem to have much effect on him and he remains very and probably justifiably obscure.
