Yamaha CLP-465GP vs Yamaha CLP-565GP
on: June 12, 2014, 06:32:56 AM
Hello All!

Can anybody tell me the difference between this two instruments?

On the official site I already compared them(https://hu.yamaha.com/hu/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalpianos/clp_series/?tab=product_lineup&selected=519296_410945_&mode=compare), but I don't know, that why the Yamaha 565GP is only 100 euro more expensive than 465.

565 has 30W power supply , 465 has 45W, but the 565 is newer than the other one.

Is the 565 relly better?
What do you think about this pianos?

At the moment I have Yamaha YDP 162, but I would like to know your oppinion. This instruments looks very good , I think.

The 565 almost doubles the polyphony ( ability to produce complicated sounds), it has the later X version of the same action in the 465,s action in it, and a few more optional sounds. That said, the 465 is perfectly suitable. You would have to play each and feel for yourself which one best suits you personally and if these differences are worth buying into.. 128 note polyphony was the standard for a few years but the trend is to increase that as new model come out or sometimes its the difference just between existing models. And teh action is something you personally have to feel for yourself, it may be completely different or not really noticeable. I can't tell you that answer, you have to feel it..
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Also, the 565 contains 2 very good piano sound: Yamaha CFX, Bösendorfer Imperial
But I don't really know this instruments, that it's worth it or not. I will try it when it will be actual to buy  :)

But if anybody has some experience with this instruments, then please tell it :)

I'd say that looks like a beauty ! Now is there any function to the Grand styling in that piano or is that a matter of looks and personal taste ?

When you play with headphone, the grand piano styling doesn't matter, but when you play without headphone, and the sound comes from the speakers, it does matter. When the lid is closed, then the sound is flat, when it's opened then the sound is more powerful and more beautiful like a real grand piano.

I see, interesting, thanks.

I have a 465GP (because there was no 565GP when I bought it, ha ha). I love it, and I'm sure that the new model is even better. It looks just like the new model except the placement of the control buttons. It is a pleasure to work with, and I like that it also looks very good. I have never tried a better digital than this one.

Good luck with your new friend! But hey, I would drag it out from the corner if I were you. Such a nice piece of furniture deserves to take place.  ;)

Thank you!  :) The best in this piano are the 2 new sound (Yamaha CFX, and Bösendorfer Imperial). I will empty the room one time and only the piano will stay in the middle of the room  ;D 465 is a very very nice piano too. I bought the 565 because it's not too much expensive than the 465.

I thought that the 465 also had the CFX sound?? Oh well, it does not matter. I bought some virtual pianoware as well, just for the fun of it - Pianoteq. It works just fine together with my piano (ok, not with the loudspeakers ... I always use headphones) and I use it when I feel like playing on a Blüthner or a Steinway ... Still Yamaha is my favourite among grand pianos, I love the clear, bright sound of it.

Some months ago I visited a showroom with Yamaha pianos, so I could try real acoustic Yamaha grands. They almost had to carry me out from there, because it was such a wonderful experience. There were hybrid pianos too, and a 465GP as well, and many more. The acoustics were in another division, of course, but there is no way I can have one of my own right now, and I concluded that my 465 proved its values even there. I like it better than the hybrids, actually.

I remember when my "baby" arrived here. We unpacked it and installed it and then I started to play, bursting with pride. And I sort of never stopped after that. A piano which makes you play, and play, and play, is a very good piano. I proudly put it in my living room, with a view over the sea from the piano chair, and it is literally the best spot in the house to be. This was a statement from my side, both to my family and to myself: I take this seriously from now on.
