Middle School Exam Program
on: June 15, 2014, 07:53:41 AM
Hey friends, here is my current program in no specific order:

J.S. Bach - Partita 2 in C Minor, BWV 826: Sinfonia (1 of 6)
Liszt - Consolation No. 3 in D flat major
Debussy - Préludes I - 12. Minstrels
Chopin - Etude Op. 10 No. 3
Beethoven - Piano Sonata in F minor Op. 2 No. 1 (Allegro)
Grainger - Handel in the Strand

Here is the link to the criteria/possible pieces:
https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/music/sololist/pianoforte.pdf

I think the primary aim is for the program to consist of contrasting pieces with an accumulated duration of around 19-23 minutes.

Any insight/thoughts/opinions would be very valuable thanks :)

Hmmmm, I think the Bach would do admirably to start off, maybe Sinfonia No. 1 to start off. Next, you might wanna choose some Chopin, and some Beethoven after that. I think your best bet for your last piece maybe the Liszt Constellation.

Your two works published since 1910 are both early in the period and not particularly adventurous.

As a hint, I'd guess you'd get brownie points for having at least one Australian composer.

Thanks everyone. It seems like I won't be playing consolation which makes me concerned as to whether my program is of suitable length..
