Swan Lake piano transcription
on: November 28, 2004, 03:17:40 AM
Does anyone know if there is and where I can find a piano transcription of the Swan Lake ballet, with all scenes transcribed?
Yes, all scence, there's not a single bad or boring scene in the whole ballet
And if such a transcription exists what grade it is supposed to be?
If it doesn't exists... the this world is really more stupid that one could expect  :'(

Well Daniel,  I guess the world isn't too stupid because, lo and behold, a piano transcription does exist.  Use the link listed at the end of this post to download.  It is a 25 megs, 176 page pdf.  It does not contain "every" scene from the ballet,  but does have the more important ones.  Difficulty level is probably within reach of the moderately advanced pianist.  Nothing on the level of the Tchaikovsky concertos.

Here is the link, and enjoy:

Thanks a lot Joel
Wow that's fantastic
It says the sheet is from Elibron
Did you scanned all those 176 pages or they had the pdf file, and does that mean that they don't sell the transcription in paper?

Actually I was looking through the score and it seems that there are all scenes but they're all mixed up in a strange manner
I could find the Waltz ACT.1 Scene 2 and there where some strange mixing in the ACT II especially in the Odette Transformation and the Dance of Cignes
Do you know wich scenes are missing and which are not in order?
What about pedaling?
Have you already played the transcription and if so what did you do with the pedalling?

Thanks a lot again
Hope I will able to return the favour someday

I acquired the score from another score trader.  I don't know if Elibron sells a printed version.

I noticed that the first page of the music says "Arr. per E. Langer", so it is someone elses arrangement and not Tchaikovsky's arrangement.

Hi Joel

nice to see you here.
I think I gave the score once to Chiu, did you ge it from him?

About Elibron, a lot of scores, which are available in Print version today
had been availabe as PDF files about 2 years before.
Unfortuntaly they changed their policy - and I changed mine as well.
I'm now buying only very few from them (compared to former times ...)

i suggest u leave this composition to an orchestra.. it doesn't sound too good on the piano, with an orchestra the sound is richer

I tried it, and it sounds very good on piano
Like every piece written for another instrument or group of instruments the effect is different but that doesn't mean it's bad
I had already heard the Nutcracker piano transcription and it sounded good too

Hi,

I am desperatly searching for those scores (free or not, i doesn't bother me to pay for it)...
Especially the first piece so if anyone can give me a valid link or a version worth buying :)

I am searching for a version close to
containing the full introduction piece, but with less and shorter arpeggios (a  closer version to the "efficient/powerful simplicity" of the original song)

Thank you in advance!

yep !

Freaking hard to play (for me) with all those added notes :p

It really fits with the intensity of the orchestra version though...
