FTCL (Trinity UK) Diploma Exam
on: July 06, 2014, 04:45:47 AM
Finally, I did it by self-studying.  Took me 2.5 years though.  Any way, thanks to those forum members giving me advice on exam program/repertoire selection and then the key learning points of the exam pieces : Bach Partita No 6 in E minor BWV830 and Beethoven PS No 31 in A flat major Op 110.

Good luck to any candidates preparing for Trinity diploma exam.

Respect duly accorded - congratulations!

2.5 years isn't bad, unless you've been working at that level for a long time.
I've been longer than that working towards LTCL, and have failed it once.

Wow it's nice to see someone passed the FTCL on self study too.

I'm gonna sit for my LTCL exams this year, a bit hesitant on whether to go further with FTCL ( if I pass the LTCL).

I would love to try, but looking at the pieces on the repertoire they are very, very difficult.
So if you can generally shed light on how do you find the whole exam process and prep for it?

Thanks
Current repertoire:

Haydn Sonata in C maj Hob 50
Bach Toccata and Fugue in G maj
Faure Nocturne no.2 in B maj Op 33
Faure Impromptu no.3 in A major Op 34
Debussy Reflets dans l'eau

How formally did you dress for the performance? When I did my LTCL they were pigs when it came to marking me down on my attire (I'm under the impression a tuxedo was expected...)
Beethoven-Alkan, concerto 3
Faure barcarolle 10
Mozart-Stradal, symphony 40

When I took my LT, I wore black polo shirts and grey trousers.  When I took my FT, I wore business causal (navy jacket, white shirt, blue tie, grey trousers).

Attire will only count for 1 or 2 marks.  Better focus on your performance.
