Short Piano Sonatas
on: July 07, 2014, 04:26:41 PM
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a short piano sonata (max.15), between the classical and romantic period. I'm preparing a recital next year with Schumann's Faschingsschwank aus wien, Beat Furrer's Drei Klavierstucke, and Prokofiev's 2nd Sonata.
My idea was adding something before Schumann, like Beethoven's op.14 no.1, or op.78, but I'd like to hear some different thoughts

Thanks!

Working on:
Bach - Toccata in f sharp minor, BWV 910
Beethoven - Sonata op.57, "Appassionata"
Liszt - "Après une lecture du Dante"
Tchaikovsky - Concerto 1

Hey asswipe, not all piano sonatas have to be large-scale works. Ever heard of all of scriabins one and two movement sonatas, the bunch of small scale sonatas by beethoven, medtners triad sonatas, tragic sonata, Scarlatti?!! Sonatas can be short in length too.

Oh clementi wrote short sonatas too. Scrub.
