Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. After his recital we got the chance talking to Tenici about his Wagner/Liszt project. Read more

The Asia Piano Competition - Asian Works Category
on: July 10, 2014, 09:02:06 AM
Hi guys, I'm thinking of joining the Asia Piano Competition under the Asian Works category next year. Can you suggest some Asian composers and piano pieces by Asian composers of ATCL or LTCL level? Thanks.  :)

Here's the link for this year's competition.

Anything of Takemitsu would work. In a specifically "Asian" category, you might find the Rain Tree Sketches to be an obvious choice though. Les Yeux Clos II is a nice one. Or maybe the Pause Ininterrompue set (can you do a set?)

Toshi Ichiyanagi's Cloud Atlas. To my knowledge, only 1-3 have been recorded (if anyone knows any different, please let me know). Nr.2 is a nice one.

Atsuhiko Gondai Transient Bell (there's a nice video of it on Youtube)

Karen Tanaka Techno Etudes

Masayuki Nagatomi Trois Esquisses

...I'm pretty big on Japanese composers  ;D

Haha... I can see you really like Japanese composers. Thanks a lot. I'll go look them up.

+1 to all above, beat me to Tanaka. Her Crystalline is bomb too. The Zoo in the Sky suite is incredibly lovely.

How about this, would this work?

Thanks guys, I'm looking through the musics of the composers you suggested. I'm looking for something which is a little upbeat and sounds interesting and unique.
