Purchasing digital piano
on: July 11, 2014, 09:29:31 PM
I've been searching for a while and I have decided that I want a Casio Privia PX-350.
However, I live in Norway, and they are extremely expensive here compared to US prices. I found a bundle on amazon for 799 dollars, which is exactly what I have to spend on a piano, and in the bundle I also get the stand, stool and pedals. In Norway, just the piano would cost more than 1000 dollars without stand or pedals. Unfortunately, amazon doesn't ship musical instruments to Norway. Do any of you have any idea where I could get the piano for 800 dollars or less (pedal and stand included) and have it sent to norway?

Relatively cheap and ships all over Europe. They have a Swedish (and Danish) webpage also.

Already been there, and they only have it in white(I want black), and if I want a stand and pedals(which i do), the price is 879 euros. thats 1196 dollars which is way above what I can pay for it. Especially because shipping instruments from anywhere outside norway to norway has an extra fee of 25%, which makes it way too expensive. I have found a norwegian site that offers it at an acceptable price, but I had to ask them about the stand and pedals because they were not included. Still waiting for a reply from them.

Don't forget that 25% MVA is also added to any shipping and insurance costs. Also the freight company importing the goods for you will charge something for doing the import duty paperwork, although this is probably not more than 100 NOK.

When getting prices from abroad, make sure that are without local VAT, as this doesn't need to be paid on goods which are exported. Sales tax is very low in the US (varies from state to state, but usually way under 10%) , so it wouldn't make much difference. But in EU countries, it's usually around 20%. So with this subtracted and the MVA added again, it's only a 5% difference.
