The Prodigy Who Saw Into the Future – Lili Boulanger’s Piano Music

Despite a constant fight against illness, she achieved great mastery as a composer, and left behind a significant catalog of works characterized by intense emotional depth, in a sophisticated, post-Romantic, Impressionist style. Earl Wild if memory serves old chap.

I love his Liszt and just about everything else he ever played.

Of course I know the one to which you refer and am inclined broadly to agree with Thal here. Ogdon at his best was also splendid in that work, as was Cherkassky live when I heard him years ago.

At the risk of going somewhat off-topic, have you ever come across a piece entitled Après un Lecture de Liszt?...

Is there a piano transcription in the offing?

But it's a reading, not a lecture; not the music that I mentioned, I'm afraid!

Oops..sorry. Still, this is a fun piece (except it sounds brutally hard to play!) and a great recording.
