Is the Sonata in E minor, op.90 by Beethoven too mature for younger pianists lets say over 13 years old? Thanks

IMO, that is nonsense that is fed from those that consider themselves more "educated."

At that age, could you understand what Beethoven was going through in life when he composed his late works - likely not.  However, should that prevent you from learning late Beethoven at a young age - absolutely not!  No musician - no matter age or experience should be expected to know everything about a piece before he/she takes on the process of learning it.  Learning a piece and having it mature within one's repertoire is a growth process, it does not happen overnight, nor should it be expected that at some defined point in ones experience that one is said to "be ready" to study a piece.

However, for purposes such as auditions, competitions, and exams, one does have to take into consideration the subjective opinions of those one has to deal with.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
