Casio PX-130 vs. CDP-130?
on: August 29, 2014, 04:51:04 AM
Hello all!  I'm a onetime competent classical pianist who has become obsessed with starting a Leonard Cohen cover band, just open mics nights and what-not.  This means a cheap digital piano (I have access to piano practice rooms, so I won't be using it much for classical).  I spent all day today playing different rigs in every price range, and was blown away, in the lower price range, by the Casio CDP-130.  I could play a Mozart Allegro passage at full tilt without missing a note, which I couldn't do to save my life on any of the Yamaha digital pianos, even the higher end ones.  For something under 500, I've more-or-less made my decision, but I do have a question:

There are almost no reviews for the CDP-130, because it is almost brand new.  However, the PX-130 seems to be a small legend as a sub-$500 piano.  A lot of musicians seem to have claimed that it lasts well, and agree with me about the awesome action for the price range.  High res photos of the two seems to show exactly the same piano.  Is the CDP-130 and the PX-130 basically the same?  Does anyone have any experience with these?  My only concern is that, due to a cheap build, it simply won't last.  What are people's overall impression of the longevity of Cheap casio rigs?  I can get it brand new for only $299, so if it lasts with moderate usage for a few years, I'm happy...

If it is still useful ... the Privia range has got more polythony and thr keybed is slightly better, with more response. I had the cdp but sold it to uprgade to Privia.  I have 350 one though.
The Privia range gives your more functions,  like usb compatible for recordings and soms internal memory etc and also lots more different piano sounds.
You would also get a resonsting strings effects if yiu accent the notes. You wont get this in cdp range.
I like down weight on privia, however the up weight id too light and when playing something like Bach s invention allegro the keys would actully bounce back at you too soon as they are too light, hope this help!
