Help with Chopin etude op 10 1!!
on: October 05, 2014, 01:12:04 AM
Hi everyone, I read this etude this etude should be played with the right hand very relaxed and it should make a fast and light attack over the keys so the fingers don't get stuck over the keys, this is the only way to play it at the tremendous speed it requires. Is this true?. any suggestions

your description is too vague and general, it won't help you achieve anything specific to this etude. I think the main sticking point of this etude is understanding the mechanism for playing open arpeggios in the right hand.

The way I would explain it would be, think of playing an arpeggio on the same triad. Your hand should naturally contract and release, with the wrists moving upwards slightly. like in this video
&t=1m32s   (at 1:32). now, to play op.10 no.1, think of the same motion, but move your wrist only slightly to the right after each broken chord. It's not so much a rotation of the wrist, think more of contracting and releasing.
