What's there to do in Los Angeles?

I'm spending 4 days in Los Angeles.. anyone been there before? what are some cool attractions, apart from venice beach, universal studios, and the hollywood sign/walk of fame? I guess I could do some clothes shopping, provided that nothing's overly expensive...or alternately find places to eat, but I dislike fastfood...yo, help me out! Also, how is the transportation there, since I don't have a car...maybe use the lyft app?

La Brea Tar Pits is an interesting place.  There are some nice restaurants nearby but I dont remember the names. It is downtown nice area for shopping as well.
