Liszt Concerto editions
on: October 25, 2014, 12:39:38 AM
Hello. I need links to where I can purchase a good edition (Hungarian, Urtext, etc.) of preferably the 2nd concerto. By Liszt. Thank you.

I need a good copy. Soon.

Don't think there's one that claims to be Urtext (possibly unless you go for full score), but this one is by a reputable, and Hungarian, publisher.

I've had this problem where I would buy scores such as Mephisto valse no. 2 and concerto no.2 and the score would be exactly the smudged outdated copies that I could have printed for free on IMSLP, but with a new cover. It frustrates me immensely.

I don't have this particular one, but I've general found Editio Musica to be pretty good.

Do you want a full score or a 2-piano score?
(And if you still want a Mephisto Waltz no. 2, get the EMB with all the MWs.)

I got the EMB edition of Liszt concerto no 2 today. It is one of the tiny scores that make your eyes turn to liquid. But the print looks really clean and very legible! Thanks jmenz!!

LOL - at your age that shouldn't be a problem. Just wait, though.

I have the red-eye edition ("study score") of Busoni concerto from B&H. It's printed clearly but it's too small to be enjoyable. I'm waiting on Dover or Schirmer to take this one on, I'm surprised they haven't yet.
