Schumann Baby Grand, #48869 : a dream to play
on: October 25, 2014, 06:51:30 PM
Hello and super excited to be part of the forum. I look forward to learning and sharing with you all.

I bought a Baby Grand Schumann about 9 years ago from a lady in Utah, who knew nothing about it. It was very frustrating, but the action and sound were so dreamy, i had to purchase.

Fast forward to now, and I am starting the restoration process. I would love to know how old it is, because I am getting into the very technical details, down to what varnish they used at the time. On the soundboard, it has a beautiful layout of decals: "Plays like a violin" is front and center, and to the left it showcases a "Alaska - Yukon - PAcific Exposition 1900- 1909 badge. It says Art-O-Tone in the largest font displayed on the board.

I would love to have any help you are willing to give on when this instrument was built. Enjoy the photos and hope to hear from you soon!
