Meee! I'm obsessed, it's such a great game but I have to tear myself away to do college work and the like. I got it on the release date and I'm still playing obsessively =). Get the patch from www.thesims2.com as well, it's very helpful to correct bugs. And have you discovered cheats yet? If I spent as many hours on the piano as on the Sims 2 this past couple of months I'd probably have doubled my level of skill  :D

wow, I never even checked for a patch.. Will it change my household I had saved (as in delete it?).

The only cheat I am using right now is the one to stop aging.  However, Im only doing it until I get accustomed to the new version and "aspiration" this and that... and then Ill turn it on and watch myself get older... haha I love how much control you have in this sequel over how your character looks.  I created myself!!

oh i love the sims! i don't have it cos if i did i'd seriously never ever do any work whatsoever. but i've played it at friend's places before and had a great time when i couldn't afford a sink in the kitchen so there were all these dirty plates everywhere.and then me and a friend created our dream house with massive rooms and this brilliant huge music room with a white grand piano and musical stuff all over the place, with heaps of glass doors opening up to outside, it was great
 i want sims! dammit why can i not afford it

What about a cheat for the original Sims?  Like a million dollar cheat?

For cheats - hold CTRL Shift and C all at once. Then in the sims 1 -

type in klapaucius!;!;!;!; (and repeat the !; as many times as you want, or it could be ;!) for money.

If you have any expansions, it's rosebud to type in, still with the !;

move_objects on to move sims. If you delete them, then click on their face in the game you'll get them back with great motives.

TS2 -

Money cheat is kaching for 1000

motherlode for 50000

and there are MANY more cheats for this, including a 'supercheat' which is like a debug version of the game.

And it's moveobjects on (no underscore) for this one, but don't delete as they'll be gone for good.

Have looads of fun!

I'm obsessed with the Sims too!  When I bought the Sims 2, it ended up costing me twice as much because I had to buy a video card to be able to play it at a decent speed on my computer.  But it was well worth the money!  It is much harder than the original game.  Getting used to the aspiration meters and everything took a while, but it's all good now.  My siblings made fun of me the other day when I told them I named a bunch of my Sim families after economic principles. (my name isn't bizgirl for nothing!)  I didn't sound dumb to me until I said it aloud.  But they are real last names, Sweezy (guy who designed the kinked demand model), Lorenz (another guy who developed a graph to illustrate the distribution of something over segments of a population).  So there you have it, an insight to my business- and Sims-obsessed mind with a little microeconomics lesson. ;)

I actually haven't experienced any Sim 2 deaths yet.  One time, in the Sims 1, I put a fireplace in the bathroom and the whole room caught on fire, including the bathtub, and my Sim ran in and got burnt up.  On the Sims 2 I just keep giving them the elixir of life when they get gray hair.  That stuff is really handy!
