favorite version of K310 mozart?
on: November 03, 2014, 08:13:15 PM
hey i'm playing mozart's k310 in a minor in a few months at a recital and i was wondering what are some of your favorite versions by pros that i can emulate.  i'm not that familiar with many different professional pianists and i wouldn't say i have the most educated or trained ear so i would like to hear your suggestions for great interpretations.  thanks!

I love Claudio Arrau's recording. It was the first piece I ever listened to with a score in hand and it was astounding the artistry I heard that still held to every little indication in the score. And K310 is a wonderful piece in itself.

Great recordings available on Youtube: Mitsuko Uchida, Eschenbach, Maria Joao Pires, Dinu Lipatti.

Barenboim and Richter's recordings are also available but I don't care for them quite as much.

Lipatti is probably my favorite for this piece.

i have listened to a lot of them and there are aspects i like on each one.  i like that ingrid haebler one but it seems kind of slow.  is that one fast enough for the tempo marking?  anyways i also wondering why some people repeat the first part and second part, while some people don't repeat the first part and repeat the second part, while some people don't repeat the first part and repeat the second part.  what's up with that?  i was thinking about just repeating the first part and then just playing the rest of it to finish.  also, i'm only playing the first movement.

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
