Khatchaturian - Andantino (Ivan Sings)
on: December 03, 2014, 09:13:53 PM
Ivan Sings
by Aram Khatchaturian, also known as
Andantino
.
I was especially interested in the idea of stretching the length of an important note for expression, which apparently is called "agogic accent" including when not to use it. I was not able to maintain all the ideas through to the second half. The other shorter clip ("Ivan idea") is an idea I have for the 2nd half which I haven't put into a recording yet - something to do with the underlying bass line for movement.
I found a variation played on euphoniums, and another on cello and piano - both were quite nice.

I should mention that since the "Sweet Dreams" time, where I had an external microphone in a basket and then tried to banish hisses, I acquired a cable that feeds from the piano ear jack port directly into the computer, where it's picked up by GoldWave.

I am not a pianist but merely an "addict"
to classical & piano music and I must say you played quite a NICE & attractive piece and very well recorded too. Although I sense what you were trying, I dare not even comment on that; however, could you kindly expound a bit on the -" I acquired a cable that feeds from the piano ear jack port directly into the computer, where it's picked up by GoldWave". THANKS.

Thank you Emill. I'm glad you liked it.
About your question. I have a digital piano. Actually, I'm not a computer geek and would have a hard time explaining it. I followed instructions similar to this one:
https://www.pianoclues.com/2008/02/15/how-to-record-digital-piano-and-keyboard-part-1-connecting-to-the-computer/
which continues to the software (they used Audacity, which is a bit more complicated than the Goldwave I used, as I understand it)
https://www.pianoclues.com/2008/02/16/how-to-record-digital-piano-and-keyboard-part-2-recording-with-audacity/
Somehow it reproduces the same thing I hear on my ear phones while I'm playing, which makes sense, given that it's a digital piano.
