Need to find a fast piece
on: December 07, 2014, 12:34:40 AM
Hello
I need your advice one more time. My teacher asks me to find a fast piece. I'm an intermediate student. To give you an idea of my level, I'm studying Op 72 n2 by Mendelsohnn, Sonata k 213 by Scarlatti, Danza ritual by Turina. I'm looking for a fast piece, not too long, like two pages, not extremely difficult, XIX or XX century . Thank you all in advance!

How fast piece?
Maybe you can pick one Etude by Chopin from Nouvelles Etudes, but I don't know if they aren't too slow.
Etudes by Moszkowski op. 72 are too long. Etudes by Liszt S.136 are nice and short, maybe you can try to pick one of them.

Yeah how fast is fast ? And fast for you may nt be fast in absolute.  Ie this piece moves but isn't really that fast. But is  short so maybe something like this?
Jazz etude 6 boss's nova by Milan Dvorak ( one of my most fav from both books)

Thank you for the answers. Nice pieces but  far too  difficult.

What about Bartok - Romanian folk dances? Listen to the 5th and 6th.

Chopin Etude in F minor Op 25/2. Very fast and not too hard, a lot of it is repeat, and it's one of the most suitable Chopin studies to start with if you're new to them.

Flight Of The Bumblebee is nice if your just looking for something quick and fast. Its also pretty easy once you get a hang of it. I recommend you learn how to play the Chormatic Scale fast before you attempt it, it'll make it much easier to complete.

I wish I could play the flight of the bumblebee, but is far from my level. Thanks anyway. I was thinking
of something  much easier

Honestly I doubt it. It just sounds hard.my teacher told me to learn it over the summer and gave me 2 weeks to learn it and have it at tempo. I am not a fan of flight of the bumblebee so I didn't start it until the day before my lesson. In about 5 hours I had it. This is not saying I'm really great or anything. This is saying how easy flight of the bumblebee is. Its a tad bit awkward at first using five on so many chromatic runs but it becomes easy! Play slow and loud for a while with it though. Sounds dumb but it works. Watch each finger press down the very center of the key. Oh and find an edition with fibgering! There are some nice "cheats" in it that are not traditionally taught in chromatic runs. Also you don't have to play it at some blinding pace.
Just here to lurk and cringe at my old posts now.
