I just finished recording Scarbo last week, 4 months of work, but it turned out acceptable, i'm up for anything. This concerto is enormously attractive, but i would like to review it and have it as an option. I'm probably going to do Prokofiev 2nd Conc regardless next.

Problem solved as it was me that scanned the piano solo version, so you are welcome to that if you PM me your e mail address. It is not great, but I used it.

If you get to the stage where you are thinking about a performance, I will ask the chap who scanned the full score.

The piano part is highly romantic, glad it is appreciated nowadays.

Thanks to the schumann virus, Dreyschock has a bad reputation, but there is more romanticism in this one work than the entire works of both the schumanns.

I wouldn't have ever associated the 2 composers. I had a teacher many many years ago that swore i'd grow to love schumann one day. Has never happened, but i will always give credit where it is due: the schumann concerto has some fine moments in the finale, otherwise i have never been attracted to it. I think his f sharp minor sonata is one of the most beautiful creations in the piano repertoire, i will stand by that claim until i pass away. Otherwise i tried to find something to appreciate in schumann in relation to the piano and it's not on any of my to do lists, and that to do list is extremely lengthy. As for the Dreyshock Op.27 it's astonishingly attractive. Wonder what it would be like if truly worthy pianists invested effort into this rather than the Schumann concerto. But us creatures will always do as the one beside us does, pity.

It is a pity, but i think Dreyschock will forever be associated with his absurd mechanical feats and i expect his compositions will remain forever outside of the mainstream rep.

I do have an appreciation for his piano concerto, what else has he produced of value and are there recordings made of them?

There was a cd issued of some of his works, but if memory serves the sound quality was far from ideal. The large proportion remains unplayed and sadly undigitalized.

I spent some time on his sonata a couple of years back and thought it worthy of revival. My forearms felt like they had been 5 sets with Nadal though.

L'inquietude would make a good rarity on a concert programme. There is some sort of reproducing piano performance of it on Youtube; it doesn't do the piece justice, and in the hands of a fleet-fingered pianist with an affinity for the salon style (Stephen Hough for example) I could see it being worthwhile. (Edit: and a rendition by "pianist Vladimir Ollivier" who, unless my ears deceive me, is actually a fairly unsubtle midi..)
