I really was expecting a Birdman superhero movie but instead, was hit with a drama about a used-up actor trying to reclaim his fame. I fail to see why this was so highly rated. People really need to stop being so mesmerized by novel camera techniques. However, the camera technique added a new dimension to filmmaking so it gets points for that. But, I was feeling nauseas halfway through. I also feel asleep.
And yeah, the drums were annoying. It was just improv (and not even good improv [rhythm was not steady so the drummer needs to take music and drumming lessons]), not carefully composed to fit the mood. So instead of enhancing mood, it actually trivialized the scenes which felt like tossing away used toilet paper.
However, by the end, I didn't feel like flushing so it wasn't that bad.
