Phantom of the Opera - Piano Arrangement
on: January 09, 2015, 05:10:01 PM
Hey everybody,

This is a first draft of a self-written piano arrangement of phantom of the opera.  Don't expect it to coincide with the actual musical a whole lot because the point of this is to be a piano piece so I took a lot of liberties (adding N6 chords, some quartel harmonies and so forth. In other words, everything is different, otherwise why write it?).  I'm still debating if I like it or not, so I might as well see what people think.  But I did put a threshold of labor into it and figure for better or for worse to throw it out there vs. having it sit in a drawer.  In any case, my next video will be this exciting neo-classical prelude and fugue I can finally play after almost a decade since writing it back in grad school which I'm very excited for.

All Best!

Interesting.  And impressive.  That wasn't what I expecting when I clicked on the link.

How did you arrange that?

Hi Bob, Thanks for clicking on my link! I hardly ever click on things myself (mainly because 99% of it is crap), so I'm glad when people take the time and do it for my work, I really appreciate it :)

Anywho, I'm debating whether I like it or not, it's funny when you finally finish a project that you get so sick of it that you start not to like it anymore. To answer your question, it's actually one of those things that I improvised and then wrote it out bit by bit while keeping the overall of form of what I want it to ultimately do in the back of my mind.  This is normally not what I do, because back in grad school usually I just wrote it on the computer without touching a piano, but then it was a pain in the arse to learn and play.  In this case, my main goal was to make it sound like that it didn't come from a musical.

Man...these things are what inspire and motivate me to compose again...unfortunately, I don't have the time...or temperament...to do such things. I'm a rather lazy thinker. Although I do, have composed a few.

Dude, you totally should. Composition is great because I get solace from knowing that out of the quadrillion people on this planet, you're the only one with this piece of music.  Hell, there's even more than one millionaire in this world, so it's more valuable than money.

Nice, although I'm fairly certain Lloyd Webbers lawyers will rip you to shreds at some point if you try to sell that for profit...

It's not you.  It's them.  I've heard the same thing.  Possibly true.  Listen while you can.

Aw shucks - I am a Phantom of the Opera fan but your page says "page not found" I would love to hear your piano arrangement and what it brings out. My favorite from the original is Music of the Night.

I think one interesting aspect is that it's lower on the piano.  Or it's sounding that way to me.

Oooo...that's not good. I'm using a free hosting service :/ , and my aunt on the West Coast was having this problem.  I'd like to know if it's still not working if you check this topic again and also, if by any chance, if you live in the Pacific Time Zone? (USA)

Bob, thank you very much for supplying those alternate links!!!!!

Hm.  *Bob considers charging toll....*

(c) Bob 2016

videos (c) Bob 2016

(c) Bob 2016 for the whole list.

Those (c) symbols are for the links.  I've got copyright on them now.  I claim them as my intellectual property.  I've annexed them.  I have a unique... um, personal... investment in my post here, and that's what make it's my own interpretation or a URL link.  You can't just post a URL.  I've "placed" them here with great care.   ::)  And they're fixed on the site, so I claim them under copyright law as my own URL links.

*Bob bumps the date up one year to extend his copyrights another extra year if no one notices.*  ::)

Also note my choice of color in both the text and background.  Font style too.  A lot of thought and interpretation went into all that, and yet the whole thing is in itself a critique also of those URLs.

Actually the order of URL links would be copyright.  That one's completely true.  My choice of first and second place in this list is unique.  *Bob copyrights his list too now.*

This isn't quite so bad of a plan... Maestroanth can't say anything because he'd call himself out with the material contained on his site... No one else can really complain.... *Bob consider hording URL links...*

Very creative. Very dark coloring which is what the piece should have. But at times when the lower notes happen it is hard for me to make out anything other than the color . Still an interesting listen though

A list can be copywritten.  The choice and arrangement of that list is your intellectual property.  Items might be fair use completely but the list is yours.

It would attract their attention, but you could offer to make some arrangements for them.  If it worked, both sides win.  From what I heard about them, they'd just go after you though.

Hey everybody,

Just to throw it out there, here is my site again from my school's server. I was just curious if this works for people specifically for those who couldn't access my site from before.
