I am looking at a second hand Boston 178.  Black. First owner selling directly.  Bought in 2009.  In a private  home. Pictures look pretty nice.  The owner plays pieces at the levels of Beethoven, nothing more rigorous, ie. not being pounded more than that. So basically the general condition looks good.  His asking price is $18,500 USD.

So how much would be a fair price for me to pay for this piano? Is there anything I should put into consideration that might affect the price that I could use in my negotiation with the owner?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Have the instrument inspected for present mechanical condition and then your local market value by your favorite piano technician.
