Lecuona : Afro-Cuban Dance for Piano [VIDEO]
on: February 10, 2015, 12:32:43 AM
Hi, what do you think of that piece?
I Heard Lang Lang perform it in Royal Albert Hall so I decided to learn it. Here's my recording in an art museum in Mexico.
Enjoy :)

I love Lecuona ! I've toyed with these dances myself but I had no idea they could sound like this in
the right hands. This one is a real finger breaker. I have not heard LL play this but kudos to both him and you for promoting some of this lovely repertoire. Very well executed, though maybe there could be a little more poetry and insouciance ?
Unless I am deceived by the aspect ratio of the video, you have some of the longest fingers I
have ever seen !

Haha, it's not a video effect, my fingers are pretty long, which is not necessarily an advantage in all pieces. I suffer in Chopin's etude for thirds....
I fully agree about being more poetic when it changes to B flat minor on 0:25. It's so difficult to totally switch mood within one chord :)

Very enjoyable, you have a splendid sense of rhythm for this sort of music. Not many players can handle it. I'll bet you would make a really good job of David's "Maria Antonietta Pons"

There's a heap of it available for sale on his website.
