Hi,

I'm looking for a 'smaller' piano solo piece to play next (in the sense of a shorter, not too long, perhaps a bit lighter piece).
Your suggestions are very welcome, from baroque all the way up to the 20th century :-) (but please indicate specific pieces, not general series or composers).

The previous pieces I played (from most recent to least) are:

Beethoven - Piano Sonata no.8 in C minor ("Pathétique")
Liszt - Sposalizio (from Deuxième Année de Pèlerinage)
Schubert - Piano Sonata No.16 in A minor D.845, I - Moderato
Prokofiev - Farewell before parting ('Romeo bids Juliet farewell'), from Romeo and Juliet, Op.75
Ives - Piano Sonata no.2, III - The Alcotts
Schumann - Aufschwung (from Fantasiestücke Op.12)
Haydn - Sonata in F major Hob. XVI:23, I - Allegro
Granados - Danza Lenta

Thanks in advance

Seriously? 40 views and no one has an opinion whatsoever on these kind of pieces??

This is a forum right? It's suppose to be full of people (sometimes desperately) searching to share their opinion ...

this is fun.  score can be found 2nd hand via used book shops, vintage music sellers, etc.

score citation
Khachaturi︠a︡n, Aram, and Oscar Levant. Sabre Dance ... Transcribed for piano by Oscar Levant. New York, etc: Leeds Music Corporation, 1948.

I think the problem may have been your brief was a little wide!

Anyway, if you're looking for something lighter/shorter/more unusual, I'd highly recommend exploring Mompou - particularly his songs/dances, impresiones intimas and preludes. Chanson de Berceau is also lovely...

They're all very impressionistic and beautiful - closest perhaps in style to Faure/Satie - and very enjoyable to play/listen to. Versions of pretty much all his music is on YouTube...

Haha, I don't think this can fall under the category of 'smaller' pieces, but definitely thank you for sharing it! Nice piece of a lesser known composer.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't think of him, I'll take a look on youtube (will be more difficult to find his scores though)

Great, I hope you find something you like - and the scores aren't too hard to track down with a little perseverance!
